At Animals of the Earth, I respect your privacy and am committed to handling your personal information responsibly and transparently.

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information I may collect, why I collect it, how I use and protect it, and the choices and rights you have in relation to your information.

1. Who I am

Animals of the Earth is operated by Esmé Bonnett.

For the purposes of UK data protection law, I am responsible for the personal information I collect and use in connection with Animals of the Earth.

Depending on how you interact with Animals of the Earth, I may collect:

Your animal's behaviour, preferences and wellbeing

I only ask for information that is relevant to providing or discussing the service you have requested.

Payment information

If you pay by bank transfer, I may retain information such as your name, payment amount, date and payment reference as part of my financial records.

If you choose to pay through SumUp, your payment information is processed by SumUp in accordance with its own privacy and data protection arrangements. I do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Newsletter information

If you choose to subscribe to my newsletter, I may collect and use your name and email address for the purpose of sending you Animals of the Earth emails and updates.

My newsletter is managed using MailerLite.

3. How I use your information

I may use your information to:

Respond to enquiries
Arrange and manage appointments
Provide the services you have requested
Communicate with you about your appointment or service
Understand the information you choose to share about your animal so that I can provide an appropriate and individualised wellbeing service
Provide written reflections or information following a session where applicable
Send products, flower essences or other materials where these form part of a service you have requested
Process and record payments
Send newsletters and other communications where you have chosen to receive them
Maintain appropriate business and financial records
Meet legal, insurance or professional obligations
Protect the safety, rights and interests of my clients, animals and business

I do not use the information you provide to diagnose medical conditions or to make veterinary diagnoses.

Under UK data protection law, I need a lawful basis for processing your personal information.

Depending on the circumstances, I may rely on:

Where I need your information to arrange or provide a service you have requested.

As part of providing my services, you may choose to provide information about your animal, including their name, age, behaviour, lifestyle, wellbeing, veterinary history, medications or supplements.

I use this information only where relevant to providing the service you have requested and handle it with the same care as other information you provide to me.

6. Who I may share your information with

I do not sell or rent your personal information.

I may use trusted service providers where necessary to operate Animals of the Earth and provide my services. These may include:

Webador
My website is hosted using Webador. Information submitted through website forms may be processed by Webador as part of providing website and hosting services.

Google/Gmail
I use Google/Gmail for business email correspondence. Information sent to me by email may therefore be processed by Google as part of providing its email services.

MailerLite
I use MailerLite to manage my newsletter and email subscriber communications.

SumUp
Where you choose to pay through SumUp, your payment information is processed by SumUp under its own privacy and data protection arrangements. I do not receive or store your full payment-card details.

Banking services
Where you pay by bank transfer, relevant payment information may be processed and retained by my bank and by me for payment, accounting and record-keeping purposes.

I may also disclose information where I am legally required to do so, or where necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of myself, my clients or others.

7. Google Business Profile

Animals of the Earth has a Google Profile to help people find my business online.

If you interact with Animals of the Earth through Google services, Google may process information in accordance with Google's own privacy and data protection arrangements.

My website does not use Google Analytics.

8. Marketing and newsletters

I may send newsletters or marketing communications where you have chosen to receive them or where another lawful basis for doing so applies.

My regular newsletter is managed through MailerLite.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time by using the unsubscribe option included in the email, or by contacting me at:

Unsubscribing from marketing communications will not affect communications that are necessary for an existing service or appointment.

9. Photographs, testimonials and social media

If I would like to use a photograph, testimonial or other identifiable information for promotional purposes, I will seek appropriate permission where required.

I will not knowingly publish personal information or identifiable photographs for promotional purposes without an appropriate lawful basis or permission.

If you provide a testimonial, please be aware that anything you voluntarily submit for publication may be used for promotional purposes where you have agreed to this.

You can contact me if you would like to discuss or withdraw permission for future use, where applicable.

10. How long I keep your information

I only keep personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.

Some information may need to be retained for longer where this is necessary for:

Accounting and tax purposes
Legal obligations
Insurance requirements
Resolving disputes
Establishing or defending legal claims
Maintaining appropriate business records

When information is no longer required, I will take reasonable steps to securely delete or dispose of it.

Once you leave the Animals of the Earth website, the privacy practices of those third parties are outside my control. I recommend reviewing their own privacy policies before providing them with personal information.

My website is hosted by Webador. The website may use cookies that are necessary for its operation and functionality.

I do not use Google Analytics or other website analytics software to track visitors.

15. International transfers

Some of the service providers I use may process information outside the UK.

Where personal information is transferred outside the UK, I will take reasonable steps to ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with applicable UK data protection law.

16. Changes to this Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to my services, the way I process information, or changes in legal requirements.
